Most solar film is installed on the interior of windows in both residential settings. In fact, the majority of the products are made for interior installation. However, exterior window tints are available for residential settings.

The installation process starts by prepping the windows and moving things out of the way and thoroughly cleaning the windows. You then cut the film to the size of the window and spray the window down with water. After that you put the window film on the window and again, cut to size to make sure everything is aligned and fits right. You then squeegee all of the water out and allow up to 60 days for the film to fully dry. Solar Art recommends having a professional company do the installation to ensure the best results.

When it comes to warranties on residential window film, each manufacturer is different. With that being said, they do have similar warranties. It’s very common for newly installed residential solar film to show evidence of water bubbles as it’s actually part of the drying process. Don’t worry, it’s simply residual moisture trapped under the film that will evaporate as the film cures to this window over time. Sometimes the drying process can take up to 60 days for all the moisture to evaporate. It is important that you don’t touch or press on these bubbles as it prolongs the drying process and can potentially damage the film.

All types of window film whether it’s solar film, security window film, anti graffiti film, decorative window film, window graphics and are removable.
